"A Place to Socialise , Play and Learn"

The Management Committe

The Management Committee

Welcome to Methil Community Education Centre,

We are continuing to rebuild our centre programme and welcome groups that benefit all areas of our community. We continue to support Fife Young Carer’s junior and senior youth clubs, ADAPT KY8 group, Fife Council’s ABE, ESOL and Digital skills groups and the Glenrothes Wine Club. We have welcomed new groups such as the Fife Gingerbread art club, Fife Gingerbread/CLD & ABE Teatime Club, Active Schools group, FRASAC and much more. We endeavour to offer a space to groups that is relaxed, welcoming and safe. We are proud to be able to support our community to overcome issues that are affecting them such as social isolation, food and fuel poverty, alcohol, and substance recovery, etc. We also are very proud of our 4 snooker tables that attract many people to the centre for a game!

If after reading this report or attending our AGM, you feel that you can make a positive contribution to your local community then please do consider becoming a member of our management committee. If you would like to find out how to join the management committee or get more information about the role, then please do not hesitate to speak to myself after this or contact the centre.

The Management Committee meet monthly, on the second Wednesday evening of every month, though meetings are moved on occasion to accommodate Centre User Groups.

The Chairperson is pivotal to the structure of the meetings and will need to be an excellent facilitator at planning and running meetings. He or she will help the group deal with differences of opinion and conflicts and make sure that everyone who wants to has a chance to speak.

Management Committee of Methil Community Education Centre is made up from Representatives from the Centre’s Users groups; there are also Community Representatives on the Committee.

Elections of Office Bearers are held every year, immediately following the Annual General Meeting. Nominations for the Chairperson, Vice Chairperson and the Treasurer are proposed and seconded before being appointed. Whoever is the The Community Education Worker advises them on Fife Council’s Policies & Procedures.
